India’s ‘Writing with Fire’ nominated in Best Documentary Feature category
Indian filmmakers Rintu Thomas and Sushmit Ghosh directed and produced the film.
The film has been nominated for the 94th Academy Awards, making it the first Indian film to be nominated in this category.
The film documents the journey of women journalists,
chronicling the tale of Khabar Lahariya, a Dalit female-run daily
Its chief reporter and criminal reporter are followed.
It details their path, which includes a change to digital journalism "assisted by smartphones."
Ghosh also collaborated with Karan Thapliyal as the film's cinematographer.
The film has already received numerous awards, including the Special Jury Award at the Sundance Film Festival in the United States.
The Sundance Film Festival (US) and Impact for Change won the Audience Award.
