Punjabi actor Deep Sidhu dies
Deep Sidhu was arrested twice after allegedly conspiring to hoist a Sikh flag at Red Fort on Republic Day.
On Tuesday night, Punjabi actor and activist Deep Sidhu died in a car accident near Sonepat on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) route.
Sidhu died when his vehicle collided with the back of a truck, according to Virender Singh, DSP, law and order, Sonepat.
The incident occurred about 9 p.m. on the KMP near Peepli toll booth in Haryana's Kharkhoda district, according to police.
Sidhu and a Punjabi actress buddy were driving to Punjab in a Scorpio.
The vehicle collided into the back of a stopped truck on the side of the road, according to a police. The impact was concentrated on the Scorpio's driver's side.
"Deep Sidhu was driving at the time. His pal was bruised and sent to a local hospital for treatment. "Her status is steady," a cop remarked.
Sidhu was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead. His body was transferred to Kharkhoda's civil hospital.
"Deeply saddened to learn of the terrible loss of renowned actor and social activist, #DeepSidhu," Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi posted in a tweet hours after Sidhu's death.
