Doctor Strange
in the Multiverse of Madness

This is the 27th installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and part of Phase 4. It is the sequel to Doctor Strange, which was a big hit in 2016.

In addition to his original solo film, the character of Doctor Strange previously appeared in Thor: Ragnarok, Infinity War, and Endgame.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was officially announced at Marvel's San Diego Comic-Con 2019 panel.

It will directly connect with the Disney+ series WandaVision, with Elizabeth Olsen reprising the role, and follow up on the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home
In Doctor Strange 2, the sorcerer will face off against an evil version of himself and the villain Shuma-Gorath, an ancient demon creature.

Directed by Sam Raimi, the film brings back Benedict Cumberbatch’s character for the first Marvel film after Spider-Man: No Way Home, which is in cinemas now.

It will also mark the return of Wanda Maximoff AKA Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) for the first time since Disney Plus series WandaVision.

The trailer appears to debunk a theory that was floating around following WandaVision’s post-credits sequence – that she will be a villain in Doctor Strange 2.
